Saturday evening the Trojans took on the Aztecs of SDSU. With the Trojans leading at the end of three quarters the Aztecs made a comeback to take the lead by one in the fourth. After the Trojans brought the game back to even the Aztecs scored once more in the final seconds to win 8-7.

The Trojans next face-off against the UNLV Rebels on Saturday at home on Cromwell Field at 1:00pm.

Saturday afternoon the Trojans faced off against the Gonzaga Bulldogs in Irvine. The Trojans led after the first with a low score of 2-1. But by the start of the second quarter the Trojans were back on top of their game. The Trojans scored 4 in the second quarter and the Bulldogs scored 2 bringing the score at half to 6-3 with the Trojans on top. The third quarter would be the last time Gonzaga would score. The Trojan defense stepped up big, but it was Junior goalie Aaron Christman that had the largest impact on defense by not allowing one goal for the entire 4th quarter. The Trojan offense also made their mark in a large way with Kai Sato leading USC with 5 goals and 1 assist to outscore the Bulldogs 12-4 after the first quarter with a final score of 14-5.

The Trojans next take on the SDSU Aztecs on Saturday at home on Cromwell Field at 7:00pm.

USC (2-1) hosted the Cal Poly Mustangs on Friday night and suffered their first defeat of the season. The Trojans were close to tying the game near the end of the first half, down by only three, but Cal Poly answered with a three goal surge to end the first half. Both teams scored an even number of goals in the second half. The Trojans will play Gonzaga their next game on February 18th at 2:00pm at UC Irvine.

Saturday night the Trojans faced the Stanford Cardinal for their home opener. USC was behind at halftime 6-3, but outscored the Cardinal in the third quarter tying the game at 6 heading in to the 4th quarter. With several lead changes in the final quarter USC came out on top, claiming it’s second straight victory. Pat Fitzgibbon led USC with 4 goals, while the Trojan defense allowed only two second half goals.

The Trojans host Cal Poly next on Friday night, Feb. 10th on Cromwell Field at USC at 7:00pm.

USC opened their season on Friday night in Irvine, beating the UC Irvine Anteaters 19-7. Both offense and defense played well never letting UCI get close to the lead. Kai Sato(3g,5a) led the offense with Cameron Estey and Grant Yeatman each tallying hat tricks.
